Public Awareness Campaigns - briefing

Back to news & events

Wednesday 2nd May 2012

The past 30 years of HIV public health campaigns have generated considerable academic research as to their merits.

HIV Scotland has been reviewing literature that documented evidence of the effectiveness of mass media campaigns towards the outcome of HIV prevention. This will be used to produce a more detailed report to explore the effectiveness of global HIV mass media campaigns, as well as:

  • identify the lessons learned that would improve campaigns;
  • outline a range of determinants proven to have been of success and
  • offer a set of principles to support the implementation of mass media campaigns in Scotland.
