The PrEP for Scotland campaign has been shortlisted in the Cracking Campaign and People's Choice categories at the Scottish Charity Awards, run by SCVO.

Last year HIV Scotland led a powerful campaign that made PrEP available and fully funded in Scotland for anyone who needs it. We worked with a large diversity of the community, other third sector organisations, clinicians, academics and decision makers to build unity and create the real possibility of stopping all new HIV transmissions in Scotland. As a result there are now over 1,300 people using PrEP in Scotland.

We want to use this campaign, and the People’s Choice Award to reach more people than ever before. Educating and informing the public about PrEP will not only mean that more people at risk will be able to access it, but we’ll be able to challenge the myths and stigma that continue to surround HIV.

Please vote for the PrEP for Scotland campaign to win by clicking here. Share on social media, and ask your friends and family to vote too.

Welcoming the nomination, our CEO George Valiotis said: “We are delighted by this nomination because it recognises the hard work of hundreds of women and men, including transgender and non-binary people who united their voices as part of this campaign. This nomination recognises the activism by community members who are too often silenced by stigma and discrimination."

“The myths and stigma wrongly attributed to HIV has often devastated relationships and lives. This campaign was used to challenge these fears, update people on the realities of HIV, and provide access to a new tool that is clinically proven to be more effective than condoms at preventing HIV transmissions.
