New HIV diagnoses in 2010 as a % of regional population

New diagnoses in Scotland in 2010 were encouragingly lower than in previous years, though it is too early to assume a downward trend. The map shows the new diagnoses as a percentage of the population for that region but the highest percentages were for Lothian and Greater Glasgow and Clyde at 0.0111% and 0.0098% respectively. In actual numbers of people in these regions, this equates to 92 and 118 respectively. Rural areas had lower levels than cities, even when total population for the region is factored into the figures for diagnoses.
